Aomori City Sends 3,560 Diapers and 378 Sanitary Products to Kumamoto Quake Victims
Aomori City shipped 3,560 diapers and 378 sanitary products to Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture, on August 6 to support areas hit by the Kumamoto earthquake, which registered a maximum seismic intensity of 7. The supplies, comprising adult and child diapers sufficient for about 460 people and sanitary products for about 80 people, were drawn from the city's disaster prevention warehouse and transported by a 4-ton Yamato Transport truck under a disaster logistics agreement. The aid followed a needs assessment conducted through an association of municipal leaders.
To support the areas devastated by the Kumamoto earthquake, which registered a maximum seismic intensity of 7, Aomori City shipped diapers and sanitary products to Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture, on August 6.
Aomori City confirmed the need for relief supplies through the Association of Municipal Leaders for Creating Vibrant Regions, a volunteer body of municipal chiefs nationwide. In response to the severe damage and ongoing water outages in Yatsushiro City, it decided to provide essential supplies including diapers. On the day, adult and child diapers totaling 3,560 pieces, sufficient for about 460 people, and 378 sanitary products, sufficient for about 80 people, were moved from the disaster prevention storage warehouse at the Aomori City General Gymnasium and loaded onto a 4-ton Yamato Transport truck, in accordance with the disaster transport agreement signed between Aomori City and Yamato Transport.
