Beijing Airports Process Over 131,000 Tax Refund Claims in First Seven Months of 2026

Since the summer season, a large number of foreign travelers have visited China, driving significant growth in the departure tax refund business. In the first seven months of 2026, customs at Beijing's two hub airports—Capital International Airport and Daxing International Airport—processed over 131,000 departure tax refund applications, a year-on-year increase of more than 516% compared with the same period in 2025. The total value of goods covered by the tax refund applications reached approximately RMB 1.055 billion, up 45.01% year-on-year. The continued rise in inbound consumption underscores the active shopping activity of foreign visitors in China.
