Beijing Releases Hepatitis Prevention Action Plan, Targeting 95% Full Vaccination Coverage for Children by

The Beijing Action Plan for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis (2026-2030) was recently released. According to the plan, by 2030, the full vaccination coverage rate for hepatitis A and B among children in Beijing will be no less than 95%, the timely first-dose coverage rate of hepatitis B vaccine for newborns will be no less than 90%, the mother-to-child transmission rate of hepatitis B will be no more than 1%, the incidence rate of acute hepatitis B will be no more than 1 per 100,000, and the diagnosis rate for chronic hepatitis B patients will be no less than 80%.

The plan proposes to strengthen measures for timely administration of the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine for newborns and continuously improve the timely vaccination rate. It calls for ongoing efforts to ensure full immunization of age-appropriate children with hepatitis A and B vaccines and booster immunization for first-year junior high school students against hepatitis B, as well as regular catch-up vaccination for children who missed hepatitis A or B vaccines, thereby consolidating the high vaccination coverage of hepatitis A and B vaccines under the immunization program.
