Chengdu High-Tech Zone AI Industry Reaches 90.7 Billion RMB with 10,750P Computing Power
Chengdu High-Tech Zone held an AI investment promotion conference during the 2026 World AI Conference and APEC Digital Week. In 2025, its AI and robotics core industry scale reached 90.7 billion RMB, up 44% year-on-year, accounting for over 60% of Chengdu and nearly 50% of Sichuan. Computing power hit 10,750 petaflops (35% of the city), 13 large models passed national registration, and a 10 billion yuan mother fund cluster was established. The zone also hosts nearly 800,000 young people on 0.91% of the city's land.
The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference concluded in Shanghai, while the APEC Digital Week was concurrently held in Chengdu. The two events overlapped in timing, focusing on artificial intelligence and the digital economy. During the closing of the World AI Conference and the APEC Digital Week, the Chengdu High-Tech Zone hosted an AI industry investment promotion conference themed "Digital Connectivity Globally, Intelligence Enables the Future." This conference was a parallel event of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Digital Partner Dialogue and "Invest in Chengdu" Global Investment Conference, building matchmaking platforms around chips, large models, embodied intelligence, medical AI, and autonomous driving.
In May 2026, Sichuan Province released the "Sichuan Province Accelerating the 'AI+' No. 1 Innovation Project Implementation Plan," designating "AI+" as the No. 1 innovation project. Chengdu City issued the "Chengdu City In-depth Implementation of the 'AI+' Action Plan," proposing that by 2027 the core industry scale exceed 260 billion RMB with growth of over 30%, and by 2030 build Chengdu into a globally influential benchmark city for full-scenario AI applications. The Chengdu High-Tech Zone is the main carrier of the AI industry in Chengdu and Sichuan Province. In 2025, the zone's AI and robotics core industry scale reached 90.7 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 44%, accounting for over 60% of the city and nearly 50% of the province.
In terms of computing power, the Chengdu High-Tech Zone's computing power scale reached 10,750 petaflops, accounting for 35% of the city. The provincial computing power scheduling platform was launched and is operational, supporting over 300 scenarios. Three enterprise cases were selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as 2025 typical application cases of advanced computing empowering new quality productive forces, accounting for three-quarters of the province. In algorithms, 13 large models passed national generative AI service registration, 154 deep synthesis algorithms completed registration, and 34 units were selected for the MIIT AI Standardization Technical Committee, all three indicators ranking first in western China. In data, the zone was approved as a core area of the first batch of national data annotation pilot bases and a first batch of national data industry clusters. The zone has gathered over 700 key industry enterprises, including over 60 key enterprises in the embodied intelligence field, forming an industry chain from computing chips and algorithm models to AI applications. Six enterprises were selected as Sichuan Province AI chain-leader enterprises, and three were listed on the MIIT AI Enterprise Comprehensive Strength TOP 100 list.
The Chengdu High-Tech Zone has nearly 800,000 young people, gathering 8.2% of the city's youth on 0.91% of the city's land area. The China-Europe Center, as an opening-up window, hosted over 210 international conferences, cultural exchanges, and economic and trade activities in 2025, attracting over 40 international institutions and projects, including the Consulate General of Spain in Chengdu.
In March 2026, the Chengdu High-Tech Zone released the first batch of 20 scientific and technological innovation application scenarios, covering low-altitude economy, artificial intelligence, intelligent robots, and unmanned driving. Subsequently, a demand list of over 100 scenarios was released, promoting the construction of more than 20 AI and robotics demonstration application scenarios. During the World Games, more than 20 "Chengdu High-Tech" robots were deployed on a large scale. The zone pioneered the national release of a "Robot Trading Index + Ecological Platform" construction plan, facilitating the establishment of the first robot trading center in western China and building the first robot park in western China. Seven enterprises' "AI+" typical scenarios were selected for the 2025 National Enterprise "AI+" Action Innovation Case TOP 100; 10 enterprise cases were selected as MIIT 2025 typical AI application cases, accounting for about 60% of the city and over 50% of the province. The Chengdu High-Tech Zone established a 10 billion yuan mother fund cluster for the AI industry.
At the World AI Conference, enterprises and products from the Chengdu High-Tech Zone covered embodied intelligence, smart education, medical robots, AI trendy toys, and multilingual large models. The world's first emotionally interactive humanoid robot, "Aiqiu," was born in the zone. On the eve of the promotion conference, the country's first WorkBuddy OPC cooperation community was established in Tianfu Long Island Digital Cultural and Creative Park. Previously, the country's first one-person company (OPC) exclusive community focusing on the "AI + digital cultural creativity" field had been established.
