China Exim Bank President Wang Chunying Says Green Finance Is Shifting from Scale to Quality

She called for more precise financing for the green transition of high-carbon sectors including steel, coal power and building materials, and cited sustainability-linked loans, syndicated lending, cross-border green project funding and green risk controls.

On September 13, 2026, Wang Chunying, president of the Export-Import Bank of China, addressed the 2026 annual meeting of the Green Finance Committee of the China Society for Finance and Banking. In her remarks, she said that 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of the entry into force of the Paris Agreement. She noted that global climate change has intensified in recent years, with extreme weather and natural disasters threatening economic and social development and the safety of people's lives and property, and that decarbonization has become a broad consensus in the international community.

Wang referred in her address to innovation in green financial products and services, green financial institutions and product innovation, corporate technological upgrading, equipment renewal and supply chain transformation. She also mentioned financing for the green transition of high-carbon sectors such as steel, coal power and building materials, sustainability-linked loans, co-financing, syndicated loans, cross-border green project funding, knowledge transfer, technology empowerment, information services, corporate ESG systems, green risk control systems and full life-cycle project management.
