In the first eight months of 2026, China's fixed-asset investment fell 7.2% year on year, with the decline continuing to widen. Total fixed-asset investment during the period approached RMB 30 trillion. Over the same period, investment in high-technology industries rose 5.2% year on year, with the cumulative growth rate accelerating for three consecutive months. Investment in information services, closely tied to new industries such as artificial intelligence, grew 22.7%, 3.5 percentage points faster than in the first seven months. Investment in intellectual property products rose 9.2% year on year, and its share of total investment was 2.3 percentage points higher than in the same period of 2025. Construction related to the "six networks" accelerated, with investment in internet and related services up 42% and investment in air transport up 16.7%.

The deep adjustment in the real estate market continued, affecting investment in related upstream and downstream industries. The external environment remained complex and volatile, and some enterprises became more cautious in their investment decisions. Extreme weather, including summer heat, typhoons, and floods, adversely affected project construction. Recently, relevant authorities held a series of meetings on stabilizing investment, deploying work including advancing construction of "Two Major" projects, accelerating implementation of major projects under the 15th Five-Year Plan, systematically advancing planning and construction of the "six networks," and continuing to stimulate the vitality of private investment.
