China Raw Materials Profits Rise 55.2% in Jan-Jul; Nonferrous, Chemicals Surge
China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that profits in the raw materials manufacturing sector grew 55.2% year on year in the first seven months of 2026, contributing 7.1 percentage points to overall industrial profit growth. Nonferrous metals profits jumped 91.8%, chemicals rose 56.6%, and oil processing swung to a profit of RMB 42.21 billion.
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that from January to July 2026, profits of raw materials manufacturing enterprises above a designated size rose 55.2% year on year, contributing 7.1 percentage points to the profit growth of all industrial enterprises above a designated size.
By sector, the nonferrous metals industry saw profits increase 91.8% year on year, while the chemicals industry recorded a 56.6% profit gain. The oil processing industry swung to a year-on-year profit, with total profits reaching RMB 42.21 billion.
