China to Support Construction Firms Going Global, Shift Overseas Contracting to Higher Value
Li Xiaolong, chief engineer of China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said on September 18 at a State Council Information Office briefing that the ministry will support construction companies expanding overseas. It will leverage the "Built by China" brand and technical strengths, strengthen international cooperation, increase policy support and service guarantees for firms going global, and move overseas engineering contracting toward higher value-added segments.
On September 18, Li Xiaolong, chief engineer of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that "Built by China" is now renowned overseas and serves as a gold-lettered signboard for the construction industry.
Li said the ministry will support companies in going global, give play to the brand and technological advantages of "Built by China," and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the construction sector, with particular emphasis on increasing policy support and service guarantees for companies operating abroad.
At the same time, the ministry will push overseas engineering contracting companies to shift the scope of their business toward higher value-added segments and will build a number of influential demonstration projects.
