China's General Public Budget Revenue Rises 5.7% to RMB 15.66 Trillion in First Eight Months of 2026
China's Ministry of Finance reported that general public budget revenue reached RMB 15.6633 trillion in the first eight months of 2026, up 5.7% year on year. Tax revenue rose 6.6% to RMB 12.9104 trillion, while non-tax revenue grew 1.5% to RMB 2.7529 trillion. Central government revenue increased 9.1%, and local government revenue rose 3.1%. General public budget expenditure totaled RMB 18.1451 trillion, up 1.2%.
The Ministry of Finance released fiscal revenue and expenditure figures for the first eight months of 2026.
From January to August, nationwide general public budget revenue reached RMB 15.6633 trillion, an increase of 5.7% year on year. Tax revenue amounted to RMB 12.9104 trillion, up 6.6%, while non-tax revenue totaled RMB 2.7529 trillion, up 1.5%.
By level of government, central general public budget revenue was RMB 7.0118 trillion, up 9.1%, and local general public budget revenue at the corresponding level was RMB 8.6515 trillion, up 3.1%.
Over the same period, nationwide general public budget expenditure reached RMB 18.1451 trillion, up 1.2%. Central general public budget expenditure at the corresponding level was RMB 2.8177 trillion, up 6%, while local general public budget expenditure was RMB 15.3274 trillion, up 0.3%.
