China's Machinery Industry Grows Across Five Sectors in First Seven Months of 2026
In the first seven months of 2026, China's machinery industry recorded value-added growth across all five major sectors. Industrial robot output surged 28.5% to 635,000 sets, while generator output rose 2.8% to 208.97 million kilowatts. Sectoral growth ranged from 6.5% to 9.4%, led by instruments and meters.
In the first seven months of 2026, value-added output across the five major sectors of China's machinery industry maintained year-on-year growth. The general equipment manufacturing sector grew 7.9%, special equipment manufacturing rose 8.8%, automobile manufacturing expanded 7.2%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing increased 6.5%, and instruments and meters manufacturing climbed 9.4%.
Among representative machinery products, industrial robot output totaled 635,000 sets in the January-July period, up 28.5% year on year. Generator set output reached 208.97 million kilowatts, a 2.8% increase.
