China's Jan-July 2026 Outbound Direct Investment Up 2.8% to RMB 684.51 Billion
China's outbound direct investment continued to grow in the first seven months of 2026, with total industry investment reaching RMB 684.51 billion (USD 99.53 billion), up 2.8% and 7.3% respectively on a yuan and dollar basis. However, non-financial direct investment contracted, declining 12.9% in yuan terms and 9.1% in dollar terms to RMB 528.43 billion (USD 76.84 billion), spread across 148 countries and regions.
In January-July 2026, China's outbound direct investment across all industries reached RMB 684.51 billion, up 2.8% year on year. In U. S. dollar terms, it amounted to USD 99.53 billion, an increase of 7.3%.
During the same period, Chinese domestic investors made non-financial direct investments in 7,742 overseas enterprises across 148 countries and regions, with cumulative investment of RMB 528.43 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%. In dollar terms, the investment totaled USD 76.84 billion, down 9.1%.
