China's Q2 2026 GDP Grows 4.3% Year on Year, First Half Up 4.7%

China's GDP grew 4.3% year on year in the second quarter of 2026 to RMB 36.15 trillion, and 4.7% in the first half to RMB 69.57 trillion. By industry, the primary sector rose 3.7%, secondary 3.9%, and tertiary 5.2%. Within tertiary, information services surged 10.7%, business services 11.9%, and financial services 6.7%.

In the second quarter of 2026, China's gross domestic product reached RMB 36.15 trillion, up 4.3% year on year at constant prices. For the first half of 2026, GDP totaled RMB 69.57 trillion, an increase of 4.7%.

By industry, the primary sector added RMB 1.96 trillion in the first half, up 3.7%; the secondary sector added RMB 25.05 trillion, up 3.9%; and the tertiary sector added RMB 41.37 trillion, up 5.2%. Within the tertiary sector, information transmission, software and information technology services grew 10.7% year on year; leasing and business services grew 11.9%; and financial services grew 6.7%.

Looking at industry categories, industrial value added rose 5.4% in the first half, manufacturing grew 5.5%, construction declined 4.0%, wholesale and retail trade rose 3.7%, transport, storage and postal services rose 4.7%, accommodation and catering rose 5.0%, and real estate declined 0.2%.
