China's 'Three New' Economy Adds RMB 25.7869 Trillion in 2025, Up 6.2%, 18.39% of GDP

China's 'three new' economy—new industries, new business formats, and new business models—generated value added of RMB 25.7869 trillion in 2025, up 6.2% at current prices and 2.2 percentage points faster than GDP. Its share of GDP rose to 18.39% from 15.7% in 2017. By sector, primary, secondary, and tertiary industries contributed 3.8%, 41.2%, and 55% of the total, growing 4%, 5.8%, and 6.6%, respectively. The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on July 30 called for accelerating the transition between old and new growth drivers.

In 2025, China's 'three new' economy—an aggregate of economic activities centered on new industries, new business formats, and new business models—recorded value added of RMB 25.7869 trillion, up 6.2% at current prices. This was 2.2 percentage points higher than the growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices in the same period. The share of the 'three new' economy in GDP rose from 15.7% in 2017 to 18.39% in 2025.

By industry, in 2025, the primary industry's value added in the 'three new' economy reached RMB 986.5 billion, up 4%, accounting for 3.8% of the total. The secondary industry recorded value added of RMB 10.6304 trillion, up 5.8%, accounting for 41.2%. The tertiary industry recorded value added of RMB 14.17 trillion, up 6.6%, accounting for 55%.

A meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held on July 30 called for accelerating the shift from old to new growth drivers.
