Guangdong AI Core Industry Exceeds RMB 300 Billion, Drives Digital Shift of 55,000+ Firms
Guangdong province announced that its artificial intelligence core industry has surpassed RMB 300 billion in scale, and has driven over 55,000 industrial enterprises above designated size to undergo digital transformation. The figures were released at an AI empowerment event during the 21st China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair in Guangzhou, where the province also showcased new platforms and achievements in SME digitalization.
An event themed "AI Empowers SMEs' Digital and Intelligent Transformation," co-hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangdong Communications Administration, was held in Guangzhou on the 4th. The event was a key activity of the 21st China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair. Data released at the event showed that, as of now, the scale of Guangdong's artificial intelligence core industry has exceeded RMB 300 billion.
Guangdong regards small and medium-sized enterprises as the main force and primary battlefield for the digital and intelligent transformation of the manufacturing sector. It has innovatively explored a practical path from "single-point breakthroughs" to "chain-based transformation," implementing categorized measures to support large enterprises in creating transformation benchmarks, SMEs in digital application and adoption, and the efficient collaborative transformation of industrial and supply chains. To date, Guangdong has established over 400 "lighthouse-style" benchmark projects, including 5G factories, ranking among the top in the country. It has promoted digital "chain-based transformation" for more than 5,000 SMEs across 40 sub-sectors, cumulatively driving over 55,000 industrial enterprises above designated size to undergo digital transformation. Key digital indicators for major enterprises remain firmly in the national first tier.
In terms of AI empowerment, Guangdong has cultivated a number of industrial large models, released application scenarios for ten key industries, built innovative platforms such as the "1+1+N" embodied intelligence training ground, and constructed a national AI application pilot base (for the consumer mobile terminal sector) at a high level. It has cumulatively cultivated 22 national-level excellent intelligent factories and 383 provincial-level advanced intelligent factories.
The event also released the "List of Long-term Mechanism Achievements for Digital Transformation Pilot Cities for SMEs in Guangdong Province," launched the 2.0 version of the Guangdong Manufacturing Digital Transformation Public Service Platform, and the national AI application pilot base (consumer mobile terminal direction) showcased a series of practical achievements in AI empowering SMEs. Concurrently, an SME digital and intelligent transformation exhibition was held, featuring zones for AI-enabled applications, smart terminal interactive experiences, and digital transformation achievements, collectively displaying the latest technologies, products, and services where AI empowers various industries.
