Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said the United States' military presence in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman has caused trillions of dollars in environmental damage over about 50 years, and Tehran will prioritize seeking compensation. The spokesman noted that damage has worsened in the past two years due to US and Israeli attacks on coastal facilities. He stressed that environmental harm transcends borders, affecting all countries in the region.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bagheri said on the 17th local time that the environmental damage caused by the United States' continued military presence in the region has resulted in losses of trillions of dollars, and Iran will prioritize claims for compensation. Bagheri pointed out that the US environmental damage to the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman is not limited to the past six months or a year, but has continued for about 50 years. The US military presence, accompanied by the use of advanced weapons, multiple military exercises, and various wars launched in the region, has caused enormous damage to the environment, leading to trillions of dollars in losses.

Bagheri said that over the past two years, this damage has further intensified due to US and Israeli attacks on various facilities along the Persian Gulf coast and the consequences of their military presence. Iran will inevitably prioritize seeking compensation for these damages. Environmental damage knows no borders; its impact is not limited to Iran but also affects the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and all neighboring countries.
