Japan Receives First Canadian Crude Since Middle East Crisis via ENEOS

The crude will be transported to ENEOS's Kiire base in Kagoshima Prefecture, marking the first arrival of Canadian crude in Japan since the Middle East crisis worsened. It is one of several alternative procurement measures that bypass the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, shipping crude from Canada to Japan takes about 10 days, shorter than the roughly 20 days required from the Middle East. After the Middle East situation deteriorated, Japan had previously purchased crude from the United States, Azerbaijan and Mexico. The Canadian supply now further diversifies Japan's alternative procurement channels.
