New Western Land-Sea Corridor First-Half Trade Reaches 517.23 Billion Yuan, Up 13%

The New Western Land-Sea Corridor recorded a total import and export value of 517.23 billion yuan in the first half of this year, a 13% increase year-on-year, the first time the half-year figure has exceeded the 500 billion yuan mark. The corridor, with Chongqing as its operational and organizational center, brings together 12 western provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, along with Hainan province, Zhanjiang in Guangdong province and Huaihua in Hunan province, forming a '13+2' joint cooperation mechanism. Using rail, sea and road transport, it reaches global markets via coastal and border ports in Guangxi, Yunnan and other regions to the south.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Guangxi for a three-day research trip in late April, during which he inspected the Madao construction site of the Pinglu Canal in Qinzhou, listened to briefings on the canal's construction, and observed smart port operations at the Qinzhou automated container terminal of Beibu Gulf Port.
