The Kyushu Expressway had remained closed between the Matsubashi and Ebino interchanges due to the impact of the Kumamoto earthquake. West Nippon Expressway announced on August 13 that it would lift the traffic restriction on the morning of August 14, restoring full general vehicle traffic along the entire Kyushu Expressway.

Some sections will be subject to contraflow traffic control. West Nippon Expressway said that, given the impact on the transport of supplies to disaster-affected areas, it urges drivers to avoid congested time periods.
