Shanghai and China Telecom Sign Strategic Pact for 'Smart Cloud Shanghai'
Shanghai's municipal government and China Telecom signed a strategic cooperation agreement on September 8 to build the 'Smart Cloud Shanghai' urban information service brand. The pact covers new information infrastructure, frontier technology innovation, and digital-driven industrial modernization. Senior officials including Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining and China Telecom Chairman Ke Ruiwen attended the signing ceremony.
The Shanghai Municipal People's Government and China Telecom Group Co. , Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the 15th Five-Year Plan period in Shanghai on September 8. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Zhu Zhongming, Deputy Secretary and Acting Mayor, met with Ke Ruiwen, Chairman of China Telecom, and Liu Guiqing, General Manager. Zhu Zhongming and Ke Ruiwen attended the signing ceremony and witnessed the agreement. Hua Yuan, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee, participated in related activities. Chen Jie, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice Mayor, and Liu Guiqing signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
Under the agreement, the two sides will establish a comprehensive strategic partnership. Leveraging Shanghai's strengths in scientific and technological innovation, industrial agglomeration, and business environment, and drawing on China Telecom's role in building a strong cyber country, a strong science and technology country, and a digital China, as well as safeguarding cybersecurity, they will jointly build the 'Smart Cloud Shanghai' urban information service brand. The partnership aims to develop world-leading new information infrastructure, promote frontier technology innovation, drive the modernization of the industrial system through digital technology, enhance the intelligent governance of a megacity, and support Shanghai in accelerating its transformation into a modern socialist international metropolis with global influence.
