In 2026, the General Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government issued the Several Opinions on Deepening the Construction of Shanghai as a Global Asset Management Center, proposing that by 2030 Shanghai's assets under management exceed RMB 55 trillion, accounting for one-third of the national total. The document sets out the goals and action path for Shanghai's asset management development.
The relevant official from the Pudong New Area Committee Financial Office said Pudong will optimize the financial business environment, respond to institutions' development needs, improve full-cycle and full-chain government services, and promote the direction of asset management capital toward Pudong's three leading industries and six hardcore industries.
