Driven by the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) boom, Taiwan's total exports in July 2026 rose 32.9% year on year, marking the 33rd consecutive month of growth. According to data released by the Ministry of Finance on August 7, July exports reached $75.3 billion, the third-highest monthly total on record, up 0.6% from the previous month and 32.9% from a year earlier. Imports totaled $58.13 billion, down 7.2% month on month but up 37.4% year on year. For the first seven months of 2026, Taiwan's exports amounted to $491.95 billion, an increase of 44.7% compared with the same period in 2025, while cumulative imports reached $377.34 billion, up 39.8% year on year. By major market, July exports to all key destinations posted double-digit growth, with shipments to Europe surging 57.6% and those to Japan rising 41.4%. Exports to mainland China and Hong Kong hit a record monthly high, increasing 33.4%. By product category, electronic components exports in July reached $27.73 billion, a record monthly high, while information, communication and audio-visual products totaled $31.37 billion, up $7.15 billion from the same month in 2025.
