Geisho Tenshi's 'Third Furatto Yose' to Be Held in Osaka on September 16

Kamigata rakugo performer Geisho Tenshi will appear at the 'Third Relaxed Yose @ Namba - Rakugo Extra Edition' on September 16 at the Namba Building in Osaka's Naniwa Ward. Hailing from Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture, Tenshi emphasizes portraying the feelings of female characters in her performances and is dedicated to creating new rakugo works.

Tenshi has loved writing since childhood. After graduating from university, she studied scriptwriting while working, and later learned how to write manzai scripts in the performing arts writing course at the Osaka Script School. Inspired by a lecturer's remark that 'the foundation of comedy is rakugo', she began to explore rakugo. After the Tenma Tenjin Hanjotei rakugo theater was established, she started writing scripts featuring female protagonists. To more accurately express female characters, she first joined a theater troupe to hone her acting and writing skills, then worked part-time at Tenma Tenjin Hanjotei, where she met many rakugo performers. She eventually became a disciple of Geisho Bunto (then known as Hachi Ten), and after about three years of training, she became independent.

Tenshi has currently created over 60 original rakugo pieces. She says she wants to both write and perform her own works, thereby presenting her own world.

This relaxed yose aims to support young Kamigata rakugo performers. The show starts at 6:30 p. m. on September 16. Advance tickets cost 1,500 yen, and door tickets cost 1,800 yen.
