US AI Infrastructure Spending Below 25% of GDP, Boom May Last Six to Seven Years
US investment in AI infrastructure has yet to reach 25% of GDP, a threshold historically seen in railway, electrification, and internet buildouts. With the Treasury and AI projects both raising large funds, the current construction boom could extend for another six to seven years.
Historically, when investment in railways, electrification, and the internet each approached 25% of GDP, the US government was reducing debt, thereby freeing long-term capital space for the private sector. At present, the US Treasury and AI construction are simultaneously raising substantial funds.
US AI infrastructure investment has not yet reached 25% of GDP, and the current building wave may continue for six to seven more years.
