2026 Public Fund Dividends Down 27% to RMB 98.586 Billion; Bond Fund Payouts Slide 44.65%
Public fund dividends in 2026 fell 27% year-on-year to RMB 98.586 billion as of July 30, with 2,198 products distributing payouts, versus 2,415 products and RMB 135.041 billion a year earlier. Bond fund dividends dropped 44.65% to RMB 56.59 billion, while equity fund dividends rose 30.14% to RMB 41.253 billion, shifting the payout mix. The largest single distribution was Huatai-PineBridge CSI 300 ETF at RMB 9.811 billion, and E Fund led fund companies with RMB 12.384 billion in total dividends.
Since the start of 2026, total dividends from public funds fell 27% year-on-year. As of July 30, 2,198 products had distributed a combined RMB 98.586 billion, versus RMB 135.041 billion from 2,415 products in the same period of 2025. The payout structure shifted markedly: bond funds' share of dividends dropped from 75.71% to 57.4%, while equity funds' share rose from 23.47% to 41.84%.
Among bond funds, 1,549 products paid out RMB 56.59 billion, down RMB 45.654 billion or 44.65% year-on-year. Equity fund dividends reached RMB 41.253 billion, up 30.14%, with passive index funds contributing RMB 23.43 billion and ETFs accounting for RMB 22.093 billion.
QDII dividend scale shrank: 18 products paid RMB 353 million, down 58.32% from RMB 847 million in the same period of 2025. For FOFs, hybrid bond FOFs were the main contributor, with 40 products distributing RMB 390 million, of which 18 hybrid bond FOFs paid RMB 210 million.
At the fund company level, E Fund led with RMB 12.384 billion in total dividends, followed by Huatai-PineBridge (RMB 11.584 billion), Southern Fund (RMB 5.636 billion), and China Merchants Fund (RMB 3.112 billion). E Fund's ETF products contributed 40.01% of its dividend payout, while Huatai-PineBridge's CSI 300 ETF distributed RMB 9.811 billion, representing 84.69% of the company's total.
Among individual products, Huatai-PineBridge CSI 300 ETF ranked first with RMB 9.811 billion, followed by E Fund CSI 300 ETF (RMB 4.479 billion) and Southern CSI 500 ETF (RMB 1.978 billion). In active equity, HuaShang Advantage Industry A paid RMB 1.944 billion, with a first-half return of 122.62%, beating its benchmark by 115.63 percentage points.
Dividend-themed funds distributed frequently: Xinhua Dividend Return paid nine times in the year with a total of RMB 38 million. A total of 126 products paid dividends at least five times, of which 73 were dividend-themed. HuaShang Leading Enterprise paid eight times, accumulating RMB 480 million, and its contract requires mandatory dividend distributions: when realized gains exceed the central bank's two-year resident savings deposit rate, it must propose a distribution plan within 15 trading days.
