A-share markets rebounded in the afternoon session on July 29, with more than 4,200 stocks closing higher. The Shanghai Composite regained the 3,800-point level, closing up 0.40% at 3,828.47, while the Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.10% after a sharp afternoon recovery. Media and social services sectors each gained over 3%. DRAM leader Changxin Technology surged 12.66% to RMB 52.95, lifting its market value to RMB 3.54 trillion, with turnover of RMB 44.81 billion, the highest on the A-share market.
In the afternoon of July 29, the A-share market rebounded markedly, with most indices turning positive. By the close, more than 4,200 stocks across the market had risen. The Shanghai Composite Index regained the 3,800-point mark, closing at 3,828.47, up 0.40%. The Shenzhen Component Index, which had fallen nearly 1.8% during the morning session, staged a strong afternoon recovery to close up 1.10%. The ChiNext Index closed up 1.55%. The STAR Composite Index, which had dropped more than 4% intraday in the morning, closed down only 0.54%. The number of declining stocks was fewer than 1,300.
Among major sectors, the media sector expanded its gains in the afternoon, closing up more than 3%, with multiple stocks hitting the daily limit, including Fanli Technology, China Science Publishing, Huanrui Century, Dianhun Network, Kaiying Network, and Giant Network. The social services sector remained strong, also rising over 3%, with Quantong Education hitting the 20% limit-up, while Huatu Shanding and ST Doushen each gained more than 10%. Huatian Hotel, Offcn Education, and Chuanzhi Education also hit limit-up. Steel, home appliances, and national defense and military industry sectors strengthened. The food and beverage sector narrowed its gains in the afternoon but still closed up more than 1%. Brokerage stocks rallied notably in the afternoon, with Hualin Securities hitting the limit-up, followed by Zhongyin Securities and Huaan Securities.
Changxin Technology, the domestic DRAM leader, saw its share price surge strongly in the afternoon, with an intraday gain of nearly 15%. By the close, Changxin Technology was at RMB 52.95 per share, up 12.66%, giving the company a total market capitalization of RMB 3.54 trillion. Its full-day turnover reached RMB 44.81 billion, ranking first among all A-share stocks in terms of trading value.
Hot stocks from the first half of 2026 showed clear divergence. Among CPO concept stocks, leader Zhongji Innolight closed up more than 4% at RMB 951 per share, with a latest market capitalization of RMB 1.06 trillion and full-day turnover exceeding RMB 40 billion. Another CPO leader, Eoptolink, closed up 3.51%, with turnover of RMB 26.91 billion. The MLCC concept performed strongly, with leader Sanhuan Group closing up nearly 8%, and its market capitalization still above RMB 200 billion. Fenghua Advanced Technology closed at the limit-up, with turnover exceeding RMB 8 billion and a latest market value of RMB 55 billion. Sinocera closed up 4.79%, with turnover of RMB 7.96 billion and a market value close to RMB 60 billion. Another previously popular stock, GigaDevice, closed down 6.81%, with turnover exceeding RMB 30 billion. Dongshan Precision closed down 5.73%, with turnover exceeding RMB 20 billion.
