A-Share Indices Slide: Shanghai Composite Down 1.16%, Shenzhen Component 4.52%, ChiNext 7.35%
China's A-share market fell sharply. The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3813, down 1.16%, while the Shenzhen Component Index dropped 4.52% to 13509. The ChiNext Index plunged 7.35% to 3327. The CSI 300 Index lost 2.83%. Total turnover on the two exchanges contracted to RMB 2.03 trillion. Changxin Technology (688825. SH), which surged on its debut yesterday, retreated 4.08% to 47 yuan. Sector-wise, semi-new stocks tumbled over 7%, non-ferrous metals fell over 3%, chemicals lost over 2%, and cement, coal, auto, power, and real estate each dropped over 1%.
Mainland Chinese equities declined today, with the Shanghai Composite Index closing at 3813 points, down 44 points or 1.16%. During the session it briefly breached the 3800-point mark, hitting a low of 3797. Total turnover on the two exchanges shrank to RMB 2.03 trillion. The Shenzhen Component Index opened down 318 points, losing the 14000-point level, and extended losses to close at 13509, down 639 points or 4.52%.
The CSI 300 Index closed at 4569, down 132 points or 2.83%. The ChiNext Index closed at 3327, down 263 points or 7.35%.
Changxin Technology (688825. SH), a Chinese memory chip maker that surged over 4.6 times on its debut yesterday, gave back some gains today, closing at 47 yuan, down 4.08%.
In terms of sectors, semi-new stocks fell more than 7%, non-ferrous metals dropped over 3%, chemicals declined over 2%, while cement, coal, auto manufacturing, power, and real estate each lost more than 1%. Biopharma, steel, and finance were soft. Media and entertainment, as well as oil, held steady.
