Food & beverage and retail sectors led gains, with several stocks hitting daily limit ups, while banks advanced. Telecom and electronic stocks slumped sharply, with many stocks falling by 10% or more. Building materials also weakened.

On the two exchanges and the Beijing Stock Exchange, a total of 2,601 stocks rose, 2,765 stocks fell, and 161 stocks were flat. The combined turnover on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges was 2.0258 trillion yuan, a decrease of 50.8 billion yuan from the previous trading day.
The food and beverage sector led the market, with stocks such as Pinwo Food, Yanjin Puzi, Jinzhongzi Liquor, and Yiming Food hitting their daily limit ups or rising over 10%. The commercial retail sector also posted strong gains, with Dongbai Group hitting the limit up, while Wanchen Group, Xiaoshangpincheng, and Minmetals Development rose over 6%, and Jinhe Commercial Management, Cuiwei Stock, and Central Mall gained over 3%. Bank stocks were robust, with China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Postal Savings Bank of China, and Agricultural Bank of China rising over 2%, and Bank of Shanghai and Bank of China gaining over 1%.
The telecommunications sector suffered a sharp decline, with stocks such as Xinyisheng, Zhongji Xuchuang, Jianqiao Technology, Tianfu Communication, Ruijie Networks, Dingtong Technology, and Changfei Optical Fibre hitting their limit downs or falling over 10%. The electronics sector was weak, with more than 10 stocks including Xi'an Yicai, Puran Stock, Hengyunchang, Yuanjie Technology, Changguang Huaxin, and Guangzhi Technology hitting their limit downs or falling over 10%. Building materials also performed poorly, with Sinoma Science & Technology hitting the limit down, while China Jushi, Honghe Technology, International Composite Materials, and Shangfeng Materials fell over 5%.
Across the two exchanges and the Beijing Stock Exchange, 82 stocks rose by more than 9%, and 170 stocks fell by more than 9%.
