In the week of August 3-7, the A-share pharmaceutical and biotech sector rose 6.27%, ranking eighth among 31 Shenwan primary industries, outperforming the Shanghai Composite Index's 2.81% gain and the CSI 300's 2.32% rise. Medical services led with a near 16% weekly gain, driven by active CXO-related stocks. Biological products and chemical pharmaceuticals each gained over 6% on innovative drug momentum. Medical devices rose 2.28%, and medical commerce gained 0.96%. Traditional Chinese medicine was the weakest, edging down 0.01%.
During the week of August 3-7, the A-share pharmaceutical and biotech sector accumulated a gain of 6.27%, ranking eighth among the 31 Shenwan primary industry sectors. The sector outperformed the broader market, as the Shanghai Composite Index rose 2.81% over the same period, while the CSI 300 Index gained 2.32%.
Among the pharmaceutical second-level sectors, medical services led, rising nearly 16% on a weekly basis, with CXO (pharmaceutical outsourcing) related stocks trading actively. Biological products and chemical pharmaceuticals each accumulated gains of more than 6% during the week, propped up by a strong innovative drug theme. The medical devices sector rose 2.28%, and the pharmaceutical commerce sector gained 0.96%, both recording weekly increases. The traditional Chinese medicine sector was the weakest, edging down a marginal 0.01%.
