Baupost Group Builds Pershing Square Stake, Adds to Amazon and Alphabet, Trims Restaurant Brands
Boston investment firm Baupost Group initiated a new position in Pershing Square Inc. worth about $13 million in the second quarter of 2026, while increasing its Amazon stake roughly 20% to 3.74 million shares, valued at $892 million, making the e-commerce company its largest disclosed holding. The firm added about 16% to its Alphabet position, reaching approximately 1.37 million shares worth $490 million. It also cut Restaurant Brands International by over 16% and built a nearly $137 million position in CME Group.
Boston investment firm Baupost Group established a new position in Pershing Square Inc. , the recently listed asset management company run by Bill Ackman, during the second quarter of 2026, while adding to stakes in several large technology stocks. Regulatory filings show that as of June 30, Baupost held a small position in Pershing Square Inc. (ticker: PS) worth approximately $13 million. The firm also built a substantial position in CME Group, parent of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, valued at nearly $137 million at the end of the quarter.
Baupost increased its holdings in two major technology companies during the period. Its Amazon position rose about 20% to 3.74 million shares, worth approximately $892 million, making the e-commerce and cloud computing company its largest publicly disclosed stock holding. Baupost also added roughly 16% to its Alphabet stake, bringing it to about 1.37 million shares, valued at approximately $490 million at the end of June.
Baupost trimmed several of its larger positions as well. Its stake in Restaurant Brands International declined more than 16% to about 6.75 million shares, with a market value of around $490 million. The regulatory filing provides only a quarter-end snapshot of Baupost's US-listed equity holdings and does not disclose short positions.
