In July, All-ETF Net Inflow Hits 435.99 Billion Yuan, a Year High; Broad-Based ETFs Surpass Thematic ETFs

All ETFs in the Chinese market recorded a net inflow of 435.99 billion yuan in July, a year-to-date high. Broad-based ETFs attracted 258.15 billion yuan, reversing a six-month outflow trend, raising their total scale to 1.09 trillion yuan, surpassing thematic ETFs at 1.05 trillion yuan. The ChinaAMC STAR 50 ETF led individual products with 34.85 billion yuan in inflows. By tracked index, the STAR 50 and ChiNext indices led the inflow rankings.

In July, ETFs recorded a net inflow of 435.99 billion yuan, a new high for the year. As of July 28, all ETFs in the market had a combined net inflow of 435.99 billion yuan, of which broad-based ETFs accounted for 258.15 billion yuan. July was the only month this year with net inflows for broad-based ETFs; in the previous six months, they had net outflows of 1.85 trillion yuan, with their scale once falling below 1 trillion yuan. Following the large July inflows, the latest scale of broad-based ETFs recovered to 1.09 trillion yuan, surpassing thematic ETFs at 1.05 trillion yuan, which attracted 137.25 billion yuan in the same period. Broad-based ETFs also saw net inflows for six consecutive trading days (July 13-20) and for two consecutive days this week.

By individual product, the E Fund ChiNext ETF saw a single-day net inflow of 6.86 billion yuan, with its latest scale at 63.56 billion yuan; the ChinaAMC STAR 50 ETF attracted 3.80 billion yuan, with a latest scale of 86.06 billion yuan; the Huatai-PineBridge CSI 300 ETF had a net inflow of 3.22 billion yuan, with a latest scale of 117.18 billion yuan. The Huaan ChiNext 50 ETF, the Guotai CSI All-Share Communication Equipment ETF, and the ChinaAMC STAR Semiconductor Materials and Equipment ETF each attracted more than 1 billion yuan. Since July, eight ETFs have each attracted more than 10 billion yuan; the ChinaAMC STAR 50 ETF led with 34.85 billion yuan, followed by the Huatai-PineBridge CSI 300 ETF with 29.51 billion yuan, and the E Fund ChiNext ETF with 29.34 billion yuan. The ChinaAMC STAR Semiconductor Materials and Equipment ETF, the only thematic ETF among the eight, had a net inflow of 23.01 billion yuan in July. The Southern CSI 1000 ETF, Yinhua Rili, Southern CSI 500 ETF, and Fullgoal SSE Composite Index ETF also attracted more than 10 billion yuan each.

By tracked index, the 'dual innovation' track (ChiNext and STAR) took the top two spots in net inflows; ETFs linked to the STAR 50 index attracted 58.78 billion yuan, those linked to the ChiNext index attracted 37.74 billion yuan; ETFs linked to the CSI 300, CSI A500, and STAR Semiconductor Materials and Equipment indices each attracted more than 30 billion yuan; indices such as the CSI 1000, Semiconductor Materials and Equipment, CSI 500, Shanghai Composite, Securities, and STAR Chip all saw net inflows above 10 billion yuan.
