COFCO Sugar said its shares fell by a cumulative deviation of more than 20% over three consecutive trading sessions on September 10, 11 and 14, 2026, triggering a third abnormal-trading notice in just over two months. After the close on September 14, 2026, COFCO Sugar issued an announcement on abnormal fluctuations in its stock trading. The announcement showed that the daily closing-price decline deviation of the company's shares exceeded a cumulative 20% over three consecutive trading sessions on September 10, September 11 and September 14, 2026, triggering the abnormal-fluctuation criteria. This was the company's third announcement in just over two months prompted by unusual share-price movements. In late June and early September 2026, the stock had twice recorded a cumulative closing-price gain deviation of more than 20% over three consecutive trading sessions.

Looking back at the first two episodes, an announcement dated July 1, 2026 showed that the daily closing-price gain deviation of the company's shares exceeded a cumulative 20% over three consecutive trading sessions on June 29, June 30 and July 1, 2026. Following an internal review and confirmation with controlling shareholder COFCO Group, the company said that, apart from information already disclosed, there was no material information requiring disclosure that had not been disclosed and that could affect the abnormal fluctuations in its stock trading. An announcement dated September 9, 2026 showed that the daily closing-price gain deviation of the company's shares again exceeded a cumulative 20% over three consecutive trading sessions on September 7, September 8 and September 9. As of the close on September 9, 2026, the company's dynamic price-to-earnings ratio was 37.99 times, its price-to-book ratio was 3.78 times, and its cumulative turnover rate over the most recent three trading sessions reached 24.88%.

The 2026 semi-annual report showed that COFCO Sugar recorded operating revenue of RMB 9.277 billion during the reporting period, down 21.16% from RMB 11.767 billion in the same period of 2025. Total profit was RMB 732 million, up 26.28% year on year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was RMB 608 million, up 36.75% year on year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company after deducting non-recurring gains and losses was RMB 567 million, up 40.70% year on year. Net cash flow from operating activities was RMB 1.198 billion, up 16.61% year on year. Basic earnings per share were RMB 0.2844, up 36.73% year on year. In the semi-annual report, the company said the decline in operating revenue was mainly due to lower sales volumes of major products combined with lower selling prices, while the increase in net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was mainly due to strengthened cost management and improved product operating efficiency.

By business segment, the sugar business was affected by a reversal in global supply and demand and a downturn in sugar prices, with first-half 2026 sales volume and revenue declining year on year; the company focused on full value-chain cost management and lifted profit year on year. The tomato business was affected by a proactive production cut and volume control in the 2025 season, which reduced inventory carried into early 2026, and sales volume fell in the period, but product prices recovered slightly year on year and total profit rose year on year.
