On Monday, shares of several enterprise software companies rose. Salesforce, Shopify, ServiceNow and Figma all advanced, with ServiceNow gaining 7% and Salesforce rising nearly 5%. Enterprise software companies had previously been seen as a sector threatened by the development of artificial intelligence.

On the same day, shares of new cloud service providers and chip companies fell, with declines roughly comparable to the gains in the software stocks.

Dario Amodei of Anthropic and others called on Saturday for a coordinated slowdown in artificial intelligence development. U. S. President Donald Trump and the Chinese government have each described concerns about AI safety as a "hoax" or "fearmongering," respectively. Meta Platforms, one of the major AI companies, remained notably silent, with only Alexandr Wang of Meta posting on X.
