Food & Beverage Sector Net Outflow RMB 855 Million on Aug 21; Moutai Tops RMB 519 Million
On Aug 21, the Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.04%. The food and beverage sector slipped 1.36%, with main capital posting a net outflow of RMB 855 million, the largest among sectors with outflows. Kweichow Moutai led the sector's outflow at RMB 519 million, falling 1.45%. Across the broader market, main capital recorded a net inflow of RMB 22.84 billion, led by electronics at RMB 10.96 billion. The pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector saw the biggest net outflow of RMB 7.31 billion.
On August 21, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.04%. Among the Shenwan industries, 16 advanced, with non-ferrous metals and communications leading gains, up 2.72% and 2.47% respectively. The pharmaceutical and biotechnology and agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors fell the most, down 3.48% and 2.51% respectively. The food and beverage sector slipped 1.36%.
Looking at capital flows, main capital across the two markets saw a net inflow of RMB 22.84 billion for the full day. Fifteen industries recorded net main capital inflows, with the electronics sector leading, rising 0.98% and netting RMB 10.96 billion for the day. Non-ferrous metals followed with a net inflow of RMB 8.73 billion. Sixteen industries saw net outflows, with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector posting the largest, at RMB 7.31 billion. The media sector saw a net outflow of RMB 1.09 billion. The food and beverage, banking, and agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors were among those with larger outflows.
The food and beverage sector saw a net main capital outflow of RMB 855 million on the day. Among the 122 stocks in the sector, 21 rose and 99 fell, with 2 hitting the daily downside limit. Capital flow data showed that 43 stocks in the sector had net inflows. Lianhua Holdings led with a net inflow of RMB 114 million for the day, up 5.44%; Jinzi Ham and Yanjing Beer recorded net inflows of RMB 66.72 million and RMB 53.22 million respectively. Yangyuan Drinks saw a net inflow of RMB 21.58 million, and Xiangpiaopiao saw RMB 7.36 million.
On the outflow side, five stocks in the food and beverage sector saw net outflows exceeding RMB 30 million. Kweichow Moutai led with a net outflow of RMB 519 million, down 1.45%; Wuliangye saw a net outflow of RMB 157 million, down 1.25%; Yiming Food saw RMB 59.01 million out, down 9.99%; Dongpeng Beverage saw RMB 48.31 million out, down 2.47%; and ST Longda saw RMB 38.19 million out, down 6.10%.
