GTA 6 PC Release May Come Early Amid Console Shortages and Memory Chip Squeeze
New market speculation suggests Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) could see an earlier-than-expected PC release, driven by console shortages and tight DRAM supply. Rockstar Games has historically prioritized consoles, with GTA V's PC version arriving about two years after its console debut. Recent PlayStation 5 Pro stock has sold out in some regions, with resale prices rising over $400. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed any plans.
Fresh market speculation has emerged regarding the release schedule for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). For a long time, the prevailing assumption has been that Rockstar Games would follow its established pattern, launching the console versions first and then releasing the PC version after a considerable delay.
Rockstar has long been known for a console-first release strategy. GTA V initially launched on consoles, with the PC version following roughly two years later. Red Dead Redemption 2 adopted a similar approach.
Global supply of memory chips is currently tight, as data centers and the artificial intelligence industry consume large amounts of DRAM, continuously pushing up costs across the hardware supply chain. Recent market signs have emerged: as the GTA 6 release date approaches, PlayStation 5 Pro inventory in some regions has been quickly snapped up, and subsequent restocks have seen price increases of more than $400.
For now, all reports of an early PC release for GTA 6 remain speculative. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not announced any related plans, nor have they confirmed a specific PC release window. Given Rockstar's long-standing secrecy around product information, the final release arrangement remains highly uncertain.
