Hang Seng Indexes Issues Consultation on Tech Index Methodology Changes
Hang Seng Indexes Company published a consultation paper on August 10, 2026, proposing revisions to the Hang Seng Tech Index methodology. The changes aim to broaden the technology theme scope, adjust constituent selection, and increase the number of constituents to reflect the evolving tech sector. If adopted, the constituent changes will become effective at the December 2026 index review.
This revision is intended to respond to the continued expansion of the technology sector in the Hong Kong stock market, further broadening the index's technology theme scope, adjusting the constituent selection mechanism, and increasing the number of constituents, so as to stay aligned with technological developments and maintain the index's representativeness.
If the proposal is implemented, the corresponding constituent changes will take effect at the December 2026 index review.
