HKEX Studies Merger of GEM and Main Board, About 300 Firms May Transfer
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is studying a merger of its Growth Enterprise Market with the Main Board, which could see about 300 GEM-listed companies move to the main board. The move follows a trend of major tech indices and AI-related sectors gaining market focus globally.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) is studying a merger of its Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) with the Main Board. Currently, about 300 companies are listed on GEM.
On the mainland, the ChiNext board sees average daily turnover of about RMB 500 billion. Companies such as CATL (300750. SZ) and Zhongji Innolight (300308. SZ) have market capitalizations exceeding one trillion yuan, while more than a dozen technology firms, including Lens Technology (300433. SZ), have market values above 100 billion yuan.
Before the global financial crisis, the U. S. market was primarily tracked by the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500. At present, the Nasdaq Composite and sectors related to technology and artificial intelligence have become the focus of market attention.
