Hong Kong Gold Stocks Rise as Spot Gold Tops $4,300 Ahead of Fed Decision

Hong Kong-listed gold shares advanced on September 16, 2026, with Lingbao Gold up more than 7%, Chifeng Gold nearly 6%, Shandong Gold nearly 5% and Zijin Gold International more than 3%. Spot gold climbed back above USD 4,300 an ounce as investors awaited the Federal Reserve's rate decision. CME data showed traders pricing a more than 90% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike in September.

Hong Kong's gold sector traded higher with volatility, as Lingbao Gold rose more than 7%, Chifeng Gold gained nearly 6%, Shandong Gold climbed nearly 5% and Zijin Gold International advanced more than 3%. In morning trading, spot gold rallied and returned above USD 4,300 an ounce.

The Federal Reserve's interest rate decision is due shortly, and the selloff in US Treasuries has intensified further. The CME FedWatch tool showed traders see a more than 90% probability that the Fed will raise rates by 25 basis points in September, with the market close to fully pricing in a September hike. Yields on long-term US Treasuries continued to climb.
