NVIDIA DLSS5 Debuts with NBA 2K27; RTX 50-Series Power Draw Rises, Up to 60% at 2K

NVIDIA's DLSS5 technology launched with NBA 2K27, the first game to support it, currently limited to RTX 50-series GPUs. Power consumption comparisons from RTX 5060 to RTX 5090 show increases ranging from negligible on the RTX 5060 to about 60% on high-end models at 2K resolution. At 4K, the RTX 5090 sees a 40% rise, while the RTX 5080 increases by 25%.

NVIDIA's DLSS5 technology has officially launched with NBA 2K27, marking the first game to support DLSS5. The technology currently supports primarily RTX 50-series graphics cards, with a limited number of compatible titles. The impact of DLSS5 on graphics card power consumption has also drawn attention.

Power consumption comparisons, with DLSS5 enabled versus disabled, were conducted on multiple GPUs ranging from the RTX 5060 to the RTX 5090 at 2K and 4K resolutions. The results show that the RTX 5060 exhibits a nearly negligible increase in power draw when DLSS5 is enabled. The RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070 see an increase of approximately 10%. The RTX 5070 Ti shows a more noticeable difference at 2K resolution, while at 4K the gap is around 10%. The RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 experience power draw increases of about 60% at 2K; at 4K, the RTX 5090 rises by approximately 40%, and the RTX 5080 by about 25%.

Overall, the data indicates that the power consumption increase from enabling DLSS5 correlates with the performance tier of the graphics card, with high-end models showing more significant rises. Power draw increases are generally higher at 2K resolution than at 4K. The number of games supporting DLSS5 remains limited and is expected to expand.
