Pharmaceutical Net Outflow RMB 1.116 Billion; Andon Health Top Inflow, WuXi AppTec Top Outflow

Shanghai's composite index rose 1.47% on Aug 5, with electronics and nonferrous metals leading gains of 5.66% and 5.34%, while telecommunications and banking fell 1.65% and 1.14%. The pharmaceutical sector gained 0.83% but posted RMB 1.116 billion in net main-force outflows. Market-wide net inflows reached RMB 54.98 billion, led by electronics at RMB 31.32 billion. Within pharmaceuticals, Andon Health led inflows at RMB 221 million, while WuXi AppTec topped outflows at RMB 864 million among 478 listed stocks.

On Aug 5, the Shanghai composite index rose 1.47%. Among the Shenwan-classified industries, 26 advanced, with electronics and nonferrous metals leading the gains, up 5.66% and 5.34%, respectively; telecommunications and banking declined the most, down 1.65% and 1.14%. The pharmaceutical and biotech sector rose 0.83% on the day.

In fund flows, main-force capital across the two markets recorded a net inflow of RMB 54.98 billion for the day, with 19 industries seeing net inflows. Electronics led with net inflows of RMB 31.32 billion, followed by nonferrous metals at RMB 12.87 billion. Twelve industries saw net outflows; media posted the largest, at RMB 1.86 billion, followed by food and beverage at RMB 1.15 billion. Other sectors with notable outflows included pharmaceuticals, petroleum and petrochemicals, and utilities.

The pharmaceutical and biotech sector posted net main-force outflows of RMB 1.116 billion for the day. Among the sector's 478 listed stocks, 205 rose, including one hitting the daily limit, while 259 fell. Fund-flow data show 181 stocks recorded net inflows, of which seven exceeded RMB 50 million. Andon Health led with RMB 221 million in net inflows, followed by BeiGene and Hengrui Pharmaceuticals at RMB 151 million and RMB 127 million, respectively.

On the outflow side, six pharmaceutical stocks saw net outflows exceeding RMB 50 million. WuXi AppTec led with RMB 864 million in net outflows, followed by Huadong Medicine and Aier Eye at RMB 88.16 million and RMB 79 million. Other stocks with relatively large outflows included Chuangxin Medical, Harbin Pharmaceutical, and Tigermed, with net outflows of RMB 70.44 million, RMB 67.19 million, and RMB 62.06 million, respectively.
