Shanghai Composite Edges Up 0.16% at Midday as A-Share Turnover Falls 13.21%
At the midday close on September 14, 2026, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.16% to 3,894.28, while the Shenzhen Component fell 0.25% and the ChiNext Index dropped 0.47%. A-share turnover was RMB 1,113.906 billion, down 13.21% from the previous session. Pharmaceuticals and biotechnology led gains at 1.88%, with Wanbang Pharmaceutical up 20%, while telecommunications fell 2.42%.
At the midday close on September 14, 2026, the Shanghai Composite Index stood at 3,894.28, up 0.16%; the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 13,436.92, down 0.25%; the ChiNext Index fell 0.47%; and the STAR 50 Index dropped 0.94%. A-share trading volume was 66.507 billion shares, with turnover of RMB 1,113.906 billion, down 13.21% from the previous trading day. Excluding new listings on the day, among tradable A-shares, 3,576 stocks rose, accounting for 64.43%; 1,797 fell; and 177 were flat. There were 50 limit-up stocks and 10 limit-down stocks.
By Shenwan industry performance, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology rose 1.88%, electrical equipment gained 1.28%, automobiles added 1.09%, building materials advanced 0.94%, computers climbed 0.78%, and machinery equipment rose 0.75%. Telecommunications fell 2.42%, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery dropped 1.54%, national defense and military industry declined 1.30%, media slid 1.09%, and coal lost 0.66%. In terms of turnover, electronics reached RMB 295.282 billion, telecommunications RMB 99.869 billion, machinery equipment RMB 81.942 billion, electrical equipment RMB 77.367 billion, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology RMB 59.157 billion, basic chemicals RMB 58.391 billion, and computers RMB 51.012 billion.
Among the 50 limit-up stocks at the midday close, 42 were on the main board, four on ChiNext, and four on the STAR Market. By industry, electronics accounted for eight, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology six, and automobiles five. The limit-up stocks included two ST shares: ST Haitai and *ST Ruimao. Mindong Electric Power recorded its fourth consecutive limit-up, the highest number of consecutive limit-ups. The stocks with the largest limit-up order volumes at the midday close were Shanzi High-Tech, Guoan Shares, and Zotye Automobile, with order volumes of 190.2793 million shares, 124.0590 million shares, and 83.3147 million shares, respectively. By order value, the leaders were Lianhua Holdings, Tiantong Shares, and Kexiang Shares, at RMB 960 million, RMB 909 million, and RMB 856 million, respectively.
