Southbound Holdings in HK Connect Targets Reach 504.4 Billion Shares, 19.61% of Total

As of August 10, southbound investors held 504.448 billion shares in Stock Connect targets, representing 19.61% of total issued shares and a market value of HK$611.0597 billion, or 14.33% of the targets' total market value. Among individual stocks, 266 had southbound holdings exceeding 20% of issued shares, with the highest being Green Power Environmental at 72.96%.

As of August 10, southbound investors held a combined 504.448 billion shares in Stock Connect targets, accounting for 19.61% of the total issued shares of these targets. The total market value of these holdings reached HK$611.0597 billion, representing 14.33% of the total market value of the targets.

By individual stock, 266 targets had southbound holdings exceeding 20% of their issued shares, 156 had holdings between 10% and 20%, 108 had holdings between 5% and 10%, 86 had holdings between 1% and 5%, and 31 had holdings below 1%. The highest southbound holding ratio was in Green Power Environmental, with 295 million shares held, representing 72.96% of its issued H-shares. Dazhong Public Utilities and China Telecom followed with ratios of 71.34% and 70.11%, respectively.

Among stocks with southbound holdings above 20%, 153 were A+H shares, accounting for 57.52% of that group. For stocks with holdings between 10% and 20%, A+H shares accounted for 18.59%. By HKEX industry classification, stocks with southbound holdings above 20% were mainly in healthcare, industrials, and financials, with 54, 47, and 34 stocks, respectively.

Other high-holding stocks included China Shenhua at 69.56% (closing price HK$44.180), Kaisheng New Energy at 68.55% (HK$2.440), Tianjin Capital Environmental Protection at 68.36% (HK$3.720), Lopcan Technology at 66.79% (HK$10.460), GAC Group at 63.78% (HK$2.290), Holly Futures at 63.76% (HK$2.295), and Orient Securities at 61.07% (HK$5.610).
