SpaceX Shares Fall 19% From IPO Price to $109 Amid Valuation and Profitability Worries

The IPO valued SpaceX at US$1.4 trillion. Since completing its initial public offering (IPO) in June 2026, SpaceX's share price has continued to decline. As of now, the shares trade at $109 each, down 19% from the IPO price of $135. In early trading, the stock opened at $150 and reached a high of $225 in the following weeks. The company was valued at $1.4 trillion at the time of the IPO.

SpaceX is engaged in reusable rocket technology and reducing the cost of space launches, and is advancing the deployment of the Starlink low Earth orbit satellite communications network. The company is currently testing its next-generation Starship heavy-lift rocket, which has completed its 13th test flight and features full reusability and greater payload capacity. To date, SpaceX has not achieved sustained, stable profitability and has invested heavily in artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, competition in the commercial space sector is intensifying.
