The additions are largely tied to semiconductors and AI computing. The index's total market capitalization reached RMB 5.9 trillion. On September 14, 2026, the third-quarter constituent adjustment of the STAR 50 Index formally took effect, marking the first trading day under the revised lineup. Five constituents were replaced, with Raytron Technology, Huafeng Technology, Yitang Shares, Insta360 Innovation and Shenghe Jingwei added. Most of the incoming constituents are linked to the semiconductor and AI computing industries. The STAR 50 Index comprises 50 securities listed on the STAR Board with relatively large market capitalization and good liquidity, and is designed to reflect the overall performance of representative technology companies on the board. The index applies a regular constituent adjustment mechanism, typically reviewed quarterly and replaced periodically. After this adjustment, the total market capitalization of the STAR 50 Index reached RMB 5.9 trillion.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that in January-July 2026, profits in the electronics industry rose 1.1-fold year on year, driving a 9.3% increase in profits for all industrial enterprises above designated size. Within that, profits in the integrated-circuit industry, represented by computing-power chips and memory chips, rose 18.5-fold year on year. At the listed-company level, on a comparable basis, net profit attributable to shareholders of STAR Board companies rose 121% year on year in the first half of 2026, with the electronics industry contributing about 80% of that attributable net profit.

Beyond the STAR 50, the STAR 100 replaced 10 constituents this time, with JPT, Changguang Huaxin, Cathay Biotech and others added. The STAR 200, the STAR Composite Index and others were adjusted in tandem. The STAR Board's broad-based indices cover large, mid and small caps, including the STAR 50, STAR 100, STAR 200 and STAR Composite Index.

Passive funds refer to products that replicate an index: whatever stocks are in the index, the funds buy; whatever constituents are removed from the index, the funds sell. Such funds are mainly carried by index funds and ETF products. Data show that more than 300 fund products track STAR Board indices domestically and overseas, with total product scale of about RMB 380 billion, of which funds tracking the STAR 50 exceed RMB 170 billion. Passive fund rebalancing is usually concentrated in specific periods around the effective date. Based on mid-year holdings disclosures by public funds, the technology sector accounted for 60.96% of holdings in the second quarter of 2026.
