Susquehanna Plans Hong Kong Expansion to Enter China ETF Market
US quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group plans to expand its Hong Kong office space to improve access to China's ETF market. Since 2026, long-term allocators including insurance funds and bank wealth management products, alongside flexible institutional money from brokerages, secondary-market private funds and trusts, have appeared frequently in ETFs. Nearly 100 private fund products were among the top ten holders of ETFs launched in the first half of 2026, while insurers held close to RMB 370 billion in equity ETFs at end-2025.

Since 2026, long-term allocation capital such as insurance funds and bank wealth management products, as well as flexible institutional capital represented by brokerages, secondary-market private funds and trusts, has appeared frequently in the ETF market.
Statistics show that in the first half of 2026, products under nearly 100 private fund managers appeared on the lists of top ten holders of ETFs established in the same period. As of the end of 2025, insurance funds held close to RMB 370 billion in equity ETFs. From the end of the first quarter of 2022 to the end of the first quarter of 2026, the share of bank wealth management capital allocated to passive equity funds more than doubled.
