US Stocks End Mixed; Dow Rises 0.51%, Nasdaq Falls 0.18%; Apple Hits Record

US major stock indexes closed mixed on the day, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.51% and the S&P 500 edging up 0.02%, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.18%. Apple gained more than 1% to a new record, pushing its market capitalization close to $5 trillion. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped over 2%, and the Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index advanced 2.51%.

Large-cap technology stocks were mixed. Apple rose more than 1% to a new record, with its total market capitalization approaching $5 trillion, surpassing Nvidia to become the world's largest company. Alphabet gained more than 2%, and Microsoft rose nearly 2%. Tesla and SpaceX fell more than 1%, while Nvidia dropped nearly 5%.

AI hardware stocks broadly declined. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell more than 2%, led by losses in the optical communications and memory storage sectors. SanDisk dropped more than 11%, SK Hynix fell more than 7%, Lumentum declined more than 6%, and Western Digital and Seagate Technology each fell more than 4%.

Most popular Chinese stocks listed in the US rose. The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index gained 2.51%. Xunlei rose nearly 5%, Bilibili added more than 4%, NetEase rose more than 3%, and Alibaba and JD. com each gained more than 2%.
