National Student Loans Reach 695.8 Billion RMB, Benefit 30 Million; Undergraduate Cap Raised to 20,000 RMB
On July 28, the Ministry of Education announced at a press conference that China's national student loan program has developed a model with home-origin loans as the main channel and campus loans as a supplement, ensuring all eligible students receive assistance. As of the end of 2025, cumulative disbursements reached 695.8 billion RMB, benefiting over 30 million students. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the maximum loan amount has been raised four times, from an initial 6,000 RMB per person per year to 20,000 RMB for undergraduates and 25,000 RMB for graduate students.
