China's First-Half Tax Revenue Exceeds 10 Trillion Yuan; 15th Five-Year Tax Reform Outlined
The State Council Information Office on July 28 outlined tax reform plans for the 15th Five-Year Plan period. In the first half, total tax and fee collections reached 16.7 trillion yuan, with tax revenue exceeding 10 trillion yuan, up 4.9% year-on-year. Social insurance premiums totaled 4.5 trillion yuan and non-tax revenue 1.8 trillion yuan. Individual income tax special additional deductions reduced taxes by over 320 billion yuan, benefiting 126 million people. Tax authorities recovered 180.6 billion yuan from investigating violations, up 20.8%. The electronic tax bureau now covers 85% of smart tax services, reducing processing time by 20%.
