The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee met on July 30 to analyze the economic situation and deploy work for the second half of the year. It called for expanding international trade cooperation and vigorously developing service trade. According to Ministry of Commerce data, China's total service trade imports and exports reached 3.09948 trillion yuan in the first five months of 2026, up 6% year-on-year. Exports rose 15.9% to 1.23046 trillion yuan, while imports edged up 0.4% to 1.86902 trillion yuan, narrowing the deficit to 638.56 billion yuan. The 2025 full-year service trade totaled 8.08231 trillion yuan, up 7.4%.
The State Council has approved the 15th Five-Year Plan for expanding consumption, the first national-level special plan for the sector. It targets total retail sales of consumer goods of about 60 trillion RMB by 2030, with service consumption as the core driver. The plan prioritizes improving service consumption quality and affordability. In 2025, service retail sales grew 5.5% year-on-year, outpacing goods retail sales by 1.7 percentage points. Per capita service consumption expenditure accounted for 46.1% of total consumption, reaching about 60% in first-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai. The plan also aims to boost consumption capacity through employment, income, and social security measures.
China Ping An upgraded its longevity health management service system and established an ecological alliance in Shanghai. Ping An Good Doctor's B-end health management revenue rose 40% to RMB 1.306 billion, serving over 6,700 enterprise clients, up 83.1% year-on-year. The system addresses chronic diseases affecting 75% of elderly, with 40% multi-morbidity and 45 million disabled seniors. A white paper and 11 longevity centers were also launched.
