BYD Brazil Plant Runs Youth Apprenticeship as Grid Analysts Train in China

BYD announced in 2023 that it would build a factory in Camaçari, in Brazil's Bahia state. The plant has introduced a youth apprenticeship program for local young people that combines theory and practice: apprentices take theoretical courses at a national industrial enterprise training center while also taking part in daily production work at the BYD factory. Luá Vitória, 22, began following the project after the plant's location was announced and applied when the apprenticeship program opened for applications. She is currently an intern in the battery division.

The China-Brazil Power and Energy Exchange training program was held recently. Manoela Resende, a senior corporate governance analyst at State Grid Brazil Holding, took part alongside representatives from Brazil's electricity regulator, the National Electric System Operator, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Energy Research Office, and other Brazilian power companies. During the 20-day visit to China, the delegates visited Chinese energy companies and attended related training sessions, with exchanges covering technical fields including ultra-high-voltage transmission, energy storage, and automation.
