China has implemented a national standard on electric vehicle power battery durability, defining battery available energy state as the ratio of current usable energy to new-battery usable energy. On-board readings must not deviate from measured values by more than 5%, and virtual mileage conversions must stay within 3% of measured equivalents. For light-duty passenger cars, the battery available energy state must remain at least 82% after 5 years or 100,000 km, 75% after 8 years or 160,000 km, and 70% after 10 years or 200,000 km.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into nearly 1.2 million Tesla vehicles following multiple complaints about suspension failures. The agency said it has received 156 complaints tied to the issue, mostly involving the 2018-2020 Model 3 and the 2021-2023 Model Y. No injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the defect so far.
Changan Automobile delivered 207,100 vehicles in July, including 96,500 new energy vehicles, up 28.8% year on year. New-energy models accounted for approximately 47% of the automaker's monthly deliveries, with the remaining 110,600 vehicles being conventional fuel models. The latest figures underscore the growing role of electrified vehicles in Changan's overall sales mix, as the NEV segment posted double-digit year-on-year growth during the month. The July delivery total comprises both conventional and new energy vehicle lines.
GAC Group announced that it added 10 charging stations in July 2026, bringing its cumulative total of charging piles to 27,221. The Guangzhou-based automaker's latest monthly rollout expands its self-operated charging network, which the company continues to develop in support of electric-vehicle users. The announcement came as GAC presses ahead with infrastructure deployment, though no further details on the new stations' locations or capacity were disclosed.
